On September 13th, our community came together for something special—the official launch of Recycle to the Max, a program that turns everyday aluminum cans into life-saving fire safety resources. Hosted at Kripke Enterprise from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event brought families, fire departments, volunteers, and partners together for a day filled with fun, purpose, and community spirit.

The goal was simple: show the public how easy it is to recycle aluminum cans while supporting fire prevention efforts in Northwest Ohio. Every dollar raised through this program goes directly back into our communities—funding projects like Max Learns Fire Safety materials for children, smoke and carbon monoxide alarm distribution through local fire departments, and other fire prevention initiatives.
A Day of Community, Safety, and Fun

The event was a true celebration of teamwork. Local fire departments, Safe Kids, and volunteers were on hand to collect cans, host fire truck tours, and share important fire safety information. Families enjoyed giveaways featuring Max, our program’s fire safety mascot, while volunteers served up hot dogs to thank donors for stopping by.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing so many people donate—not just once, but multiple times!
A special shout-out goes to the “OG Scrappers” who made four trips to drop off cans throughout the event. Their enthusiasm captured exactly what Recycle to the Max is all about: turning small, everyday actions into big community impact.
Sylvania Township’s Incredible Gift
A moment that truly stood out was when Sylvania Township Firefighters presented a check for $3,000, representing years of dedicated can collection to support this program. Their

generosity and long-standing commitment remind us what’s possible when communities unite for safety.
We cannot thank them—and all of our donors and partners—enough for helping kickstart Recycle to the Max in such a powerful way.
Keep the Momentum Going

This launch event was just the beginning. You can continue to support Recycle to the Max in several ways:
